Scale — Terms of Service

Last updated: 22 September 2026 · Applies to the Scale Partner Android app (com.rohansurve.scale.partner), the Scale API and payment pages at api.rohansurve.in, and any message channel you connect to them.

In short: Scale is a record book that helps you get paid. You bring the customers and you decide what to send them. We keep the service running honestly and we do not touch your money. If you use Scale to spam people or to break the law, we will stop your account.

  • The records are yours. You can export nothing to us and delete everything at any time. See section 4.
  • The customers are your responsibility. You must have the right to hold their details and to message them. See section 5.
  • Scale never holds your money. Payments go straight from your customer to you. See section 7.
  • Messages go through WhatsApp and Instagram, so Meta's rules apply on top of ours. See section 6.
  • Plans are paid through Google Play. Refunds follow Play's policy. See section 8.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Rohan Surve ("Scale", "we", "us"), the publisher of the Scale Partner app. By creating a Scale account or using the service, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Scale.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we handle and why. It forms part of these Terms.

1. What Scale is

Scale Partner is a tool for a small business to record who its customers are, what they owe, and what they have paid — and to ask them for payment through messages and a payment page.

Scale is a record and a messenger, not a bank and not an accountant. It does not hold, move or guarantee money, it does not verify that a payment happened, and it is not a substitute for your own books or professional advice.

2. Who may use it

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must be using it for a business — your own, or one you are authorised to act for.
  • If you use Scale on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with your mobile number and a code we send you. That code is your key. Do not share it. We will never ask you for it.
  • Your app PIN protects the app on your phone. Keep it to yourself; a business phone is often shared.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has got into it.

4. Your records stay yours

The customer and payment records you enter belong to you. We store and process them so that we can provide the service, and for nothing else. We do not sell them, we do not share them with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use them to train anything.

You can delete a record, or your whole account, at any time from inside the app — Settings → Delete my account. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. See the deletion page for the full detail and for what is kept.

5. Your customers are your responsibility

This is the most important section in this document. Scale holds other people's personal information on your behalf. For those people, you are the one responsible — not us.

You confirm that:

  • you have a lawful basis to hold each customer's name, number and other details you enter;
  • you have the right to message them about their payments, and you will stop if they ask you to;
  • you will not use the free-text fields to store information about someone that they would not expect you to hold;
  • you will answer their questions about their own data, and will tell us if you need help doing so.

You must not import a list of people who are not your customers, and you must not use Scale to contact people who have not dealt with your business.

6. Messages

Scale sends messages through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform and Instagram Platform. Meta's own policies apply to every message on top of these Terms, and Meta can refuse, delay or block a message for its own reasons.

  • You choose what is sent. Reminders and receipts go when you ask for them. If you connect Instagram and switch on an automatic reply, that reply is the text you wrote, sent to people who have just messaged your account.
  • We cannot guarantee delivery. A message can fail because of the network, Meta, the recipient's settings, or a number that is not on WhatsApp. Scale reports what Meta tells it and nothing more.
  • No spam, ever. Do not use Scale to send marketing to people who did not ask for it, to message anyone who has told you to stop, or to send anything misleading, threatening or abusive. Debt collection must stay lawful and civil.
  • Connecting a social account — for example Instagram — means you confirm you are allowed to act for that account. You can disconnect at any time, from Instagram's own settings or from Scale.

If Meta suspends or restricts the number or account we send through, that part of the service stops until it is resolved. That is outside our control.

7. Payments from your customers

Scale never touches the money. A payment page opens your customer's own UPI app, which pays your UPI ID directly. We do not receive it, hold it, or take a cut of it, and we are not told whether it succeeded.

"I have paid" is your customer telling you something, not proof of anything. Nothing is marked paid until you confirm it. Checking that you were actually paid is your job.

Any dispute about a payment is between you and your customer.

8. Plans and payment to us

  • Scale is free up to a small number of customers. Beyond that you need a paid plan.
  • Plans are bought through Google Play. Play's terms govern the purchase, and refunds follow Google Play's refund policy, not ours. We can help you with a request but we cannot process it.
  • Prices can change. We will tell you before a change affects you, and a plan you have already paid for is not re-priced.
  • If a plan ends or is not renewed, your account reverts to the free limits. Your records are not deleted, but you may not be able to add more customers until you are under the limit or on a plan again.

9. What you must not do

  • Break the law, or help anyone else to.
  • Impersonate another business or person.
  • Send spam, scams, or anything you were told to stop sending.
  • Try to reach another business's records, or to get round the limits of your plan.
  • Attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Resell Scale, or run it as a service for other businesses, without our written agreement.

10. Availability

We try to keep Scale running and we fix things when they break, but we do not promise it will always be available or always be error-free. It depends on services we do not control — Google, Vercel, Meta, Google Play and your own network — and any of them can have an outage.

We may change, add or remove features. If a change would materially reduce what you have paid for, we will tell you.

11. Stopping

  • You can stop at any time by deleting your account (section 4).
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms — in particular section 5 or section 9 — or where we are legally required to. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. For serious harm, such as using Scale to defraud or harass people, we will act immediately.
  • If we close your account, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to retrieve your records unless the law prevents it.

12. Liability

Scale is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business, lost data, or money you were not paid because a message did not arrive or a record was wrong.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for Scale in the 12 months before the problem arose.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

You agree to cover us for claims brought against us because of information you entered about someone else, or messages you sent through Scale, where you did not keep to section 5 or section 6.

13. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms materially we will update the date at the top and publish the new version here before it takes effect. Continuing to use Scale after that means you accept the change. If you do not, delete your account.

14. Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be contracted out of.
