Exact KB Photo Compressor Privacy Policy
Effective 18 October 2026 · App: Exact KB Photo Compressor for Android (com.rohansurve.exactkb), version 1.0.0 · Developer: Rohan Surve, Pune, Maharashtra, India
In short
- Your photos are compressed on your phone. The app never uploads your photos, and we have no server that receives them.
- There is no account and no login. The app doesn't ask for your name, email or phone number, and it has no analytics or tracking of its own.
- The free app shows one banner ad from Google AdMob on its Home screen. AdMob collects some device information, such as your advertising ID and IP address, to show and measure ads. Your photos are never shared with it.
- The app uses the internet only for ads and for Google's ad-consent form. Compressing, saving and sharing photos work without internet.
1. Your photos, and where they stay
You choose a photo with Android's photo picker. The app can open only the photo you pick: it does not ask for permission to read your gallery, and it never browses your other photos or files.
- Processing: the photo is decoded, resized if needed and compressed to JPG entirely on your phone. Nothing about the photo is sent anywhere.
- The compressed copy: the latest result is kept in the app's private cache until you compress another photo, or until Android clears the cache or you uninstall the app.
- Saving: when you tap Save Image, a copy is saved to your phone's
Pictures/ExactKBCompressorfolder. It stays there until you delete it. Your original photo is never changed or deleted. - Sharing: the compressed image leaves your phone only when you tap Share Image and choose an app (for example email or a messaging app). What happens next is governed by the app or service you chose.
- Photo metadata: the compressed copy does not contain the original's metadata (EXIF), such as GPS location or camera details.
- While you work: if Android closes the app in the background, it remembers the chosen size and which photo you had picked, only so it can reopen the same screen. This stays on your phone and is discarded when you leave the screen or close the app.
The app is excluded from Android backup, so none of this is copied to a cloud backup.
2. Ads (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows one adaptive banner ad from Google AdMob at the bottom of its Home screen. Ads never appear over your photo previews, the compression progress or the results. To choose and measure ads, prevent fraud and fix problems, the Google Mobile Ads software in the app collects and sends to Google:
- your device's advertising ID (where available);
- your IP address, from which Google may estimate an approximate location (city or region, not GPS);
- device information, such as model, Android version, language and the app's version;
- how you interact with ads, such as which ads were shown and whether you tapped them;
- diagnostics about the ads software, such as crashes and performance.
AdMob never receives your photos, their file names or anything about the images you compress. Google processes this information under its own policies: see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
If ads can't load, for example when you are offline, the app works normally without them.
3. Consent and your ad choices
Where the law requires consent before personalised ads (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the app shows Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested, and ads are requested only as your choice allows. When this applies to you, an Ad privacy settings button on the Home screen lets you change your choice at any time.
On any Android phone you can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads on some phones).
4. What we collect
| Information | Collected by us? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Your photos and compressed images | No | Processed only on your phone; never uploaded. |
| Your name, email or phone number | No | There is no account. |
| Location (GPS), contacts, camera, microphone | No | The app never asks for them. |
| Usage analytics or crash reports | No | The app includes no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. |
| Advertising ID, IP address, device and ad-interaction data | No (Google AdMob collects it) | Used by Google to show and measure ads (section 2). |
We, the developer, receive no personal information from the app. AdMob gives us only aggregated reports, such as how many ads were shown, which do not identify you.
5. Sharing
We do not sell or share any personal information, because the app sends us none. The information in section 2 is collected and processed by Google as part of showing ads. Your photos are shared only when you choose to share them yourself.
6. Permissions the app uses
- Internet and network state: to load ads and Google's consent form.
- Storage (Android 8 and 9 only): to save the compressed image to your Pictures folder; requested only when you tap Save. Android 10 and later need no storage permission.
- Advertising ID and related ad permissions: added by the Google Mobile Ads software to show and measure ads.
The app does not ask for location, contacts, camera, microphone or phone permissions.
7. Retention
We keep no information about you. On your phone, the compressed copy in the app's cache is replaced each time you compress a photo and is removed when you uninstall the app; images you saved stay in Pictures/ExactKBCompressor until you delete them. Google keeps the advertising data it collects as described in its own policies.
8. Security
Your photos are processed on your device and are not transmitted by the app. Shared images are passed to the app you choose through Android's secure sharing system, which grants that app temporary access to the one image only. The ads software communicates with Google over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
9. Children
Exact KB Photo Compressor is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed at children, and it is not designed for children under 13.
10. Your choices and rights
- Delete compressed images: delete them from
Pictures/ExactKBCompressorwith your gallery or files app. Clearing the app's storage in Settings → Apps → Exact KB Photo Compressor → Storage, or uninstalling the app, removes everything the app keeps on your phone. - Ads: manage consent with Ad privacy settings on the Home screen (where offered), and reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Your rights under applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the GDPR where it applies, are not limited by this policy. For rights over the data Google collects for ads, see the Google Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change reaches you in an app update, and describe the change here. This is the first version of this policy.
