TDEE Calculator Online — Calculate Total Daily Energy Expenditure Free
TDEE — Total Daily Energy Expenditure — is the total number of calories your body burns in a day, accounting for all activity. It is the single most important number for anyone managing their nutrition, whether the goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or maintaining current weight.
The TDEE Calculator calculates your TDEE instantly based on your body stats and activity level, and breaks down recommended macronutrients for different goals.
What TDEE Includes
Your total daily energy expenditure is made up of four components:
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) — the calories your body burns at complete rest just to stay alive. Breathing, circulation, cell maintenance. This is typically 60-70% of your total TDEE.
TEF (Thermic Effect of Food) — calories burned digesting and processing food. Roughly 10% of total intake.
NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) — calories burned from all movement that isn't intentional exercise. Walking to the kitchen, fidgeting, standing. Highly variable between people.
EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) — calories burned from deliberate exercise sessions.
The calculator estimates all four components based on your inputs.
TDEE vs BMR — The Key Difference
BMR is your calorie burn at rest — if you lay in bed and did nothing all day.
TDEE is your actual daily calorie burn including all activity.
Most people confuse the two and eat at their BMR, which creates a much larger deficit than intended and leads to fatigue and muscle loss. Always use TDEE as your baseline.

Using TDEE for Different Goals
Fat loss — eat 15-20% below your TDEE. This creates a moderate deficit that preserves muscle while losing fat at a sustainable rate.
Muscle gain — eat 10-15% above your TDEE. A small surplus provides energy for muscle synthesis without excessive fat gain.
Body recomposition — eat at TDEE with high protein. Possible for beginners and people returning after a break — lose fat and gain muscle simultaneously.
Maintenance — eat at TDEE. Your weight stays stable over time.
Why TDEE Changes Over Time
As you lose or gain weight, your TDEE changes — a lighter body burns fewer calories. Recalculate your TDEE every 4-6 weeks or whenever your weight changes by more than 3-4 kg to keep your targets accurate.
